A producer I work with was helping a small dental practice that wanted to attract young dentists right out of school.

But they also had a challenge most don’t talk about: keeping them.

After running the numbers, we suggested a solution that combined income protection with a formal Qualified Sick Pay Plan (QSPP) - giving the practice a way to:

  • Offer tax-deductible disability income benefits
  • Lock in unisex pricing (especially valuable since the majority of the dentists were female)
  • Get a 25% permanent discount by covering just three lives

It worked. The QSPP was easy to set up, showed young dentists that the practice cared about their financial protection, and gave the owners a powerful way to stand out from other offices.

Most people talk about student loans and signing bonuses - but I don’t see QSPPs set up too often. Maybe producers have just forgotten about it?
